Homologate nursing assistant title in Spain
The aim of this reform is to standardize the title of nursing assistant at the national level, so that the title granted in an autonomous community is used to practice the profession in any other autonomous community.
Currently, in order to work as a nursing assistant, it is necessary to have passed a medium-level training cycle of professional health training as a nursing assistant, having obtained the corresponding official title issued by the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality or by the corresponding Departments of Health of the Autonomous Communities.
However, although the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality dictates the minimum teaching for the nursing assistant training cycle, each autonomous community establishes its own teaching, so that the title issued in one autonomous community is not valid in another.
How to certify my Nursing Assistant title in Spain
To validate a Nursing Assistant title in Spain, certification of the title must be requested in the country of origin and then submitted to the General Nursing Council (CGE). Certification of title must include:
- Name and surname of the principal
- Photocopy of ID
- Nursing Assistant Title
- Graduation Diploma
- Academic record
- Description of the contents of the study plan
Once the title certification has been obtained, it must be submitted to the CGE, accompanied by the following documents:
- Application for degree homologation (through the Electronic Headquarters of the CGE https://sede.consejodeenfermeria.es/ )
- Documentation accrediting the payment of the corresponding fees
- Nursing Assistant Degree Certificate
- Graduation Diploma
- Academic record
- Description of the contents of the study plan
Once all the required documentation has been submitted, the CGE will issue a technical report in which the studies carried out will be assessed and it will be determined if the title of Nursing Assistant meets the requirements established in Spain. If the technical report is favourable, the title will be approved and the corresponding certificate will be issued.
Where can I certify nursing assistant?
To certify the title of nursing assistant in Spain, it must be applied for at the Official College of Nursing of the autonomous community in which the profession is to be practiced. Documentation accrediting having passed a nursing assistant training course of a minimum duration of 1,200 hours must be presented.
The documentation that must be submitted is the following:
- Request addressed to the president of the official nursing school.
- Documentation accrediting having completed a nursing assistant training course of a minimum duration of 1,200 hours.
- Official title of the nursing assistant course.
- Certificate of notes for the nursing assistant course.
- Diploma or certificate of having passed the nursing assistant training course.
Once all the documentation has been submitted, a personal interview will be held with the candidate, in which their knowledge and skills will be assessed. If the candidate passes the interview, the title of nursing assistant will be issued.

How long does the nursing certification in Spain last?
Homologation of nursing in Spain is a process in which the studies carried out in the country of origin are compared with the official nursing studies in Spain. The approval process can take several months, and in some cases, a complementary training course may be required.
To start the approval process, it is necessary for the applicant to present a series of documents, among which are:
