How many temporary contracts can be made in 2022

In 2022, a maximum of 12 temporary contracts may be made.

Temporary contracts are a form of part-time or full-time work, which is carried out for a determined period of time. They are usually used to fill occasional vacancies, for example, in periods of high demand.

Temporary contracts can be of various types, depending on the duration of the work and the agreed conditions. Some of the most common types of temporary contracts are the following:

How many temporary contracts can you get with the new labor reform?

The new labor reform establishes that the maximum number of temporary contracts that can be entered into with the same person is 3. This means that, if a person has been hired by means of a temporary contract and the contract has subsequently been renewed or a new contract with it, the maximum number of contracts that may be in force with the same company will be 3.

The labor reform also establishes that, in the case of temporary contracts of less than one year, the maximum number of renewals that can be made is 2. This means that, if a person has been hired through a temporary contract of 6 months , the contract may be renewed once, but if the initial contract is for 3 months, 2 renewals may be made, that is, the contract may be renewed once more.

In the case of temporary contracts lasting more than one year, the maximum number of renewals that can be made is 1. This means that, if a person has been hired through a temporary contract of 18 months, the contract can be renewed once, but if the initial contract is for 24 months, a renewal can be made, that is, the contract can be renewed once more.

The labor reform also establishes that, in the case of temporary contracts of less than one year, the maximum number of renewals that can be made is 2. This means that, if a person has been hired through a temporary contract of 6 months , the contract may be renewed once, but if the initial contract is for 3 months, 2 renewals may be made, that is, the contract may be renewed once more.

When does a work and service contract become indefinite?

A part-time employment contract becomes a full-time one if the worker:

  • Goes to work more than half the hours that a full-time worker works at the same company.
  • You work more than 24 hours a week at the same company, even though there is not a full-time worker doing the same tasks.

A full-time contract is one in which the worker works more than 30 hours per week. This includes overtime and rest time. If the worker works less than 30 hours a week, her contract is considered part-time.

The time that the worker spends in training, meetings or in any other activity that is not the work specified in his contract, is not counted to determine if he has a full-time or part-time contract.
