Requirements to be a secondary school teacher in Catalonia

In order to be a secondary school teacher in Catalonia, according to Decree 56/2015, the following is required:

-To be in possession of a degree, bachelor's degree or diploma in the specialty corresponding to the body of the faculty to which the candidate is chosen or in another specialty in which an official study plan has been passed that certifies a total or partial equivalence to said title.

-To be in possession of an official master's degree, university research master's degree or doctorate in the specialty corresponding to the body of the faculty to which the candidate is opted or in another specialty in which an official study plan that accredits an equivalence has been passed total or partial to said title.

-To be in possession of a degree, bachelor's degree, diploma, university master's degree or doctorate issued by a university of the Member State of the European Union or of another country of the European Economic Area that certifies having completed an official study plan of equal or more than three years, in the specialty corresponding to the body of the teaching staff to which the candidate is chosen or in another specialty in which an official study plan has been passed that accredits a total or partial equivalence to said degree.

-Be in possession of a degree, bachelor's degree, diploma, university master's degree or doctorate issued by a university of a country not belonging to the European Union, provided that it is required, as an essential requirement for access to said studies, have passed a national university entrance exam or, failing that, an equivalent selection system that accredits the student's level of training.

-To be in possession of a degree issued by a foreign university that certifies having completed an official secondary education study plan, intermediate or higher level professional training, of duration equal to or greater than three years, in the specialty corresponding to the body of the teaching body to which you choose or in another specialty in which an official study plan that accredits a total or partial equivalence to said title has been passed.

-To be in possession of a degree issued by a foreign university that does not require, for access to said studies, to have passed a university entrance exam of a n character

What it takes to be a secondary school teacher in Catalonia

To be a secondary school teacher in Catalonia you need:

• Being in possession of a Bachelor's Degree, Bachelor's Degree or Diploma issued by an official educational center of Catalonia or another member state of the European Union, accrediting the level of studies officially required for access to the teaching profession.
• Carry out the Official University Master's Degree in Teacher Training for Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, Intermediate and Higher Level Vocational Training . The Master's Degree has a duration of 60 ECTS credits, which can be taken full-time or part-time.

The requirements to be a secondary school teacher in Catalonia are: to be in possession of a Bachelor's, Licenciatura or Diploma in Teaching or a qualification in the field of pedagogy, or an official higher-level degree in any branch of knowledge, which accredits the sufficient pedagogical training for the exercise of teaching in secondary education; have passed the entrance exam for teaching in secondary education; and be in possession of the level of Catalan or Spanish level certification that is determined by regulation, as appropriate.
