The practical test will consist of a personal interview with a maximum duration of 20 minutes. The objective of the interview will be to evaluate the abilities and skills of the candidates for dealing with people deprived of their liberty, as well as their communication skills, empathy and resilience. Candidates' previous experience in dealing with people in vulnerable situations or at risk of social exclusion will be valued positively.
Candidates who pass the prison officer exam will be hired by the Ministry of Justice and Interior of Castilla y León, to provide their services in one of the prisons of the Autonomous Community. The starting salary for the position of prison officer is 2,039.60 euros gross per month , plus the destination complement corresponding to the center where the service will be provided. The working day will be 37.5 hours per week .
In order to be a prison official, you have to take a one-year training course in which you study topics such as safety, hygiene, nutrition and treatment of inmates. You also have to pass an entrance exam and an aptitude test .
